Paolo Domeniconi has been working as a freelance illustrator since the early 1990s, starting his career in advertising. He later developed a passion for children's literature, collaborating with prominent Italian and international publishers such as Mondadori, EDT, Grimm Press, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, The Creative Company, and many others.

His illustrations have been published in countries including Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, China, Taiwan, and Japan.
He has illustrated around 60 books, along with numerous covers for children's fiction and various school publications.

Among his awards, he received the "Emanuele Luzzati" Illustration Award in its 16th edition in 2017.
His book Lola e io, published by Camelozampa, was selected by IBBY for the "2015 Collection of Outstanding Books for Young People with Disabilities."
